The UASB reactor is designed to treat organic waste with a COD of 1600 mg/L and BOD5 of 65% of COD. The reactor will handle an average flow rate of 680 m³/d (0.0079 m³/s), and the influent has a suspended solids concentration of ≤ 60 mg/L, which does not require pre-treatment. The reactor’s design is based on a 12-hour retention time (TRH) to optimize performance at a temperature of 20°C. The calculated reactor volume is 342 m³, and the depth is set at 6 meters to maintain a flow velocity of 1.0 m/h. The reactor area is 57.76 m², with a sludge zone depth of 3 meters. The influent is evenly distributed across the reactor using a grid system with 9 distribution points. The pipes have a diameter of 8 inches, and the reactor tank will be constructed from reinforced concrete with a thickness of 0.3 meters and a freeboard of 0.4 meters. The reactor cover will have a length of 6 meters and an inclination angle of 60°.
